Adorable Turkey Cupcakes

I decided to throw a cupcake into the mix today because they are so versatile. Just take one look at these adorable turkey cupcakes and you will see why I chose them. I like them because you can use any flavor of cupcake you desire and use chocolate frosting to cover it up.

All you need for these fun, little birds is 3 oval shortbread cookies (such as Keebler Sandies Right Bites Shortbread), 6 to 10 candy corn pieces, white icing, black decorators' gel, and red fruit leather.

To make the turkey, frost the cupcake, then press in a cookie head and 2 cookie wings. Press in a row or two of candy corn tail feathers. To make an eye, add a small dot of white icing to the head, then add a dot of black decorators' gel for a pupil. For a beak, cut the white tip from a piece of candy corn and press it in place. To make the wattle, cut a 1-inch square of fruit leather. Roll it into a tube and stick it in place over the beak. Done! Pumpkin pie will not be missed when these tiny turkeys are gracing the dessert table. MmmMmm!

I like this cake because it shows that even a small cake can make a big statement. It was photographed by Miss Catty Cakes. Being a Twilight themed cake, it represents all of the books in the series. It has parts of all of the book covers and meshes them all without the cake looking crowded. My only regret is that I don't know the flavor of the cake itself.

Disney Princess Birthday Cake

This was the cake my middle daughter had for her 5th birthday. It was bought and made at Food City. I washed off and saved the kit. Now instead of paying $50.00 (that's right, $50.00!) for another one, I can just make it myself.

If you would like to buy the kit instead of ordering it, here is a link to a lens where you can buy one.

The cake was good despite the cost. It was a marble cake with buttercream frosting. It came with a Princess picture frame where I put in a pic of my daughter. The cake also came with five princess figurines that my girls enjoyed playing with. It was very pretty and it was a big hit with the family. If you end up trying it, I would love to hear your reviews.

Hello Kitty Birthday Cake

Seeing as this is my very first post, I decided to go with a cake that is very close to my heart. It is a two tier, marshmallow fondant cake that I made for my youngest daughter's third birthday. It was the first time that I ever attempted a cake of this caliber. I was very proud of how it looked and tasted and so were our party guests. There recipe for the fondant can be found here.
